I am pleased to welcome you to the website of Nordic Yards.

Nordic Yards is one of the world's leading manufacturers in the field of high-tech shipbuilding and concentrates on technologically sophisticated and innovative special ships. These include ice-breaking and ice-going ships, special tankers, ferries and offshore projects.

The Nordic Yards shipyards in Wismar and Warnemünde are amongst the most modern, efficient and largest of their type worldwide. At the same time they build on a tradition that goes back many years. Since their foundation in 1946 over 900 seagoing ships in 74 different designs have been produced here.

As the new owner I took over the shipyards in the summer of 2009 in stormy times. It is my aim to build on their outstanding achievements as one of the world's leading manufacturers of state-of-the-art special ships and place Nordic Yards on a stable long-term economic footing. The pre-requisite for this is of course new orders; in order to acquire these I am working closely and intensively with a strong team of experienced shipbuilding experts.

The first important steps along this path have already been taken: on February 27, 2010 Nordic Yards successfully acquired its first new order. The construction work for the icebreaking Arctic Tanker "Nordic AT 19" ordered by the Russian mining company Norilsk Nickel began on July 1, 2010. The second contract followed on June 24, 2010. Siemens Energy ordered an offshore platform for the BorWin2 Project. As a result we have created a good launching pad for the further development of the shipyards.
